Description

So remember how I said I didn't tell anyone what the story was, well one guy working on the film suggested that we do this thing where I draw one panel then he does another, then someone else and so on until the story is completed. I'd actually love to try that with a whole comic but I couldn't here for obvious reasons. So I let him draw a panel then afterwards drew the real panel. You can see what he did here: clinteast.deviantart.com/art/U…

Now has anyone here read the current IDW Ghostbusters comic? Well the main artist :icondanschoening: is quite obviously a huge fan of the franchise and puts in cameos and references all over his drawings. That's what I wanted to do here with Batman. But for whatever reason here I just drew a random face for the news reporter character and it's not all that great in my opinion. I should have used from actress from a Batman film or something. Also who exactly is she? I don't know, is there a specific female news reporter in the Batman comics or shows. She can be that character I guess.

Guess I should talk about who she's talking to, Harvey Bullock. I used the TAS design because that's my favorite version, best voice and I like Bullock being grumpy and maybe being accused of being on the take but deep down is true blue. Added the stubble to make him look a little bit like Lt. Eckhardt who I am positive was supposed to be Bullock. Why not just call him that? I think maybe because they killed him off but if that's the case "let's save Bullock for another film" wouldn't it had been weird for TWO fat gruff cops in the Batman film series? Because they changed him too much, that didn't stop them with any of the other characters. I don't know but I knew I had to put him in.

Also I have to say I'm really happy with how the Batcave came out. I used the colors from Batman Beyond, some of the elements of Burton's version with the two major things I've been wanting to see in the movies; The T-rex statue and the giant penny. Why are they there? The reason changes from continuity to continuity but I love how it just raises so many questions for every establishing shot of it. Hopefully the new films will add them but what with their fetish for “realism” I kinda doubt it.

And of course gotta talk about sexy herself, the 89 Batmobile. Not only is it by far the best looking batmobile but it's one of the best cars in cinema history EVER, PERIOD! Like if I had the crazy money to spend I'd totally buy either one of the original ones used in the film or a replica, it's that badass of a car. Just when I think the words "Batmobile" that's what I think of. The animated series is pretty good too, mainly because it took a lot of inspiration from the movie. Forever and Batman and Robin's versions are just over designed to the point of silliness. I've seen H. R. Giger's design and it's an interesting looking car to say the least (what else would you expect) it's just that I don't think it works as a Batman vehicle, use the design in a sci-fi flick but not a Batman film. And the tumbler… God do I hate that thing. I will never understand people who like that thing. I mean it's ugly, the tank style is unnecessary and for how fast it goes, seems unrealistic. Now you may say "it's a comic book movie, it doesn't need to be realistic" and normally I'd agree but that's the whole point of Nolan's "realistic" Batman and why I don't think "realistic" belongs in a Batman flick. I wouldn't mind except because of the this "realistic" Batman it doesn't allow for some the fun aspects inherent to Batman. And on top of all of that, it's just one ugly looking piece of work. I'm no car expert or fan but even when I first saw Batman Begins I said it looks like a Transformers' shit, like if a Transformer could poop, the tumbler is what would come out. The teases for Zach Synder's version actually looks really good a lot more Burton like than I expected. A happy medium.

I do not own any of these characters, they are owned by DC Comics.
